Who We Serve

Technologists

The imaging protocols available here provide users (including patients, technologists, referring physicians, hospital administrators, and radiologists) with a set of documents that have been created, and are periodically reviewed, by RAFV radiologists.

The imaging protocols list specific directions for the technologists who perform the examination. These are the “default” protocols which should be followed at all RAFV covered facilities for a routine examination. Alternative protocols may be put in place at a particular facility based on an agreement between RAFV and the referring physician(s). For example, a particular orthopedic surgeon may require additional or alternative radiography protocols. Case-by-case deviations from the protocol (because of patient physical limitations, contrast allergy, etc.) should be reviewed, when possible, with a radiologist prior to or at the time of the examination. Generally speaking, the radiologist responsible for adjusting the protocol should also interpret the examination.
